I looked in my fridge Monday and thought I could go shopping. I wrote my list and then decided to make do. I just didn't want to deal with the store for just a couple of things. Especially knowing I have the essentials for many fine meals. I don't have cheddar but I do have feta, goat and mozzarella cheeses. Same with rice I'm out of basmati and still have plenty sushi, brown and sweet rice. It's refreshing to think in terms of what I have rather than what is lacking. I am pledging to make delicious, creative meals all week from the ingredients I have in stock. I know this will help reduce waste and encourage me to try new recipes. New recipes tried already: Hungarian mushroom soup and a new bread recipe, both were wonderful. I love trying new recipes, it helps build a bigger repertoire so I don't get stuck in a rut. I am grateful for the abundance in my pantry :-)
I am a lucky person and I find I take things for granted. Today I would like to express my gratitude for the simple -yet amazing things.
:: central heating. Amazing I just push a button and voilà heat.
:: refrigerators. So cool my food keeps ages longer with no effort on my part.
:: the Internet. Magic.
:: my ball winder and swift. Perfect!
:: hot water heater. Joy
And so much more not listed. I started thinking about this because the weather has changed. I groan because I'm thrifty and have to turn the heat on and for many reasons even when it's on the house is still cold but still much warmer that outside. This made me really aware of how many luxuries I have in my life that I complain about. I also realized I like to talk about social change and have signed petitions from the comfort of my home and now I need to act. I first thought I would knit things but that still keeps me in my comfort zone. I think better still is giving my time at a food pantry or shelter would be better. I am going to find a place that needs my talents in my community.
I like setting my weekly intentions. This ritual has kept me focused and I complete more tasks.
This week I will:
-ride my bike to all errands within 1.5 miles, as I adjust I will increase my radius.
-finish cursed green and yellow hat!!
-create something daily for challenge
-organize upstairs bookshelf
-attend yoga twice this week
-add night time meditation
-organize and photograph school's lost and found mess
